An upgraded model of Komatsu's WA470 wheel loader has recently been launched — now with better fuel economy, a more comfortable cab and a new Tier 4 Final engine.
While in auto-idle shutdown mode, the new model reduces emissions with selective catalyst reduction and utilization of diesel exhaust fluid. The electronic control system manages airflow and fuel injection combustion parameters. Altogether, the machine is 6 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor, which can add up significant cost savings over time. For precise air quality and temperature control, the WA470-8 has a variable turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation.
Operators now enjoy air-suspension and a heated seat inside the cab. The seat plays a big role in reducing machine turbulence for operators. The cab also has a new 7-inch rear-view monitor display that features Ecology Guidance and two 12-volt auxiliary ports.
This new loader has great stability and tractive effort while being well suited for numerous applications, such as moving pipe, transporting gravel or working with landscape materials. There are also additional attachments for logging and waste disposal.
- Swing out cooling fan

The WA470-8 loader includes Komatsu's telematics system, Komtrax, which gives operators and managers the ability to be updated on the fuel levels, number of operating hours and location. It does all this while also sending maintenance alerts through the website or a smartphone. KomatsuCARE is offered for the first three years or 2,000 hours (whichever comes first), scheduled factory maintenance, inspection at each service and two tank flushes in the first five years.
